Our Local Producer Programme reaches 180 growers

The first thing our purchasing team does every Monday morning is call the growers who will bring produce to our store that week. Launched in 2019 with 40 growers, our Local Producer Programme now includes 180 producers.

How we work

• No middlemen: we buy directly from the grower, so more of the value stays on the farm.
• Fast payment: small producers are paid within 15 days.
• Planned orders: we agree a planting plan at the start of the season and commit to quantities in advance.
• Quality support: our food engineers help growers with labelling, packaging and lab testing.

How to spot them on the shelf

Products in the programme carry a green “Local” badge, with the grower’s name and village on the label. This year, local products made up more than 60 per cent of our produce section for the first time.

Producer Day

On the first Saturday of every month we hold a Producer Day at our store entrance, where growers introduce their products, offer tastings and answer your questions. Follow the dates in our announcement bar and on social media.
